Renault is continuing to expand its range of successful vans with the addition of a new more compact Master van, which brings all of the Renault Master driver comfort and performance benefits in a more city-friendly package.
The new Master L1H1 van has a short wheelbase and low roof but still packs in 8 cubic metres of loading capacity, which gives it a lead over traditional rivals from Japanese and some European rivals.
With an overall length of a smidge over 5m, the Renault Master L1H1 is around the same length as a traditional Aussie sedan and therefore fits into regular parking bays with ease, and is a breeze to steer through town.
There is the option for sliding side doors on both sides of the van, complementing the wide-opening glazed barn doors at the rear. This means that wherever loading or unloading takes place, the Master L1H1 can help make it as easy as possible. Unglazed rear doors are also available for additional load privacy.
With front-wheel drive, the low step-in height load bay helps reduce fatigue for drivers who make multiple drops each day.
The vehicle’s overall height is 2.3m, but offers a full 1.6-tonne payload in addition to the 8m3 capacity, and can tow up to 2.5-tonnes, offering excellent versatility and practicality for building industry professionals.
A wide range of options and accessories are available, and the Master is highly customisable, making it suitable for all types of tradesmen.
The three seat front row allows plenty of room for passengers, and when only the driver and a single passenger are carried, the backrest of the middle seat can be flipped forward to provide a handy centre tray workspace. Standard features include Bluetooth connectivity, speed limiter, anti-lock brakes, ESP stability control and dual airbags.
Like all the members of the Renault Master range, the L1H1 van is powered by a frugal, clean and punchy 2.3-litre 150hp four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine that offers up to 30,000km oil change intervals, depending on usage.
The engine develops 350Nm of torque for effortless pulling power even when fully loaded, and returns better than 9.0-litres per 100km on the official combined cycle, so it’s light on your pocket, reducing running costs.
The Renault Master L1H1is also available with a choice of six-speed gearboxes, one manual, and one fitted with an automated change, which makes city driving less tiring.
Also helping to control the cost of ownership is the Renault Capped Price Servicing offer, which restricts outlay on the first three scheduled services to a predictable $349 per service, which also helps owners to manage cash flow.

The new L1H1 version of the front-drive Renault Master van goes on sale in March and will be priced from a highly competitive $39,990 drive away, available from the growing network of 37 Renault dealers nationwide.
