Bosch Blue has extended its 12V range with the release of the GFK 12V-8 Professional cordless palm router and the GHO 12V-20 Professional Cordless planer – and I think you’re going to love both!

With motors becoming more powerful and efficient, some tools are able to reduce down into smaller and more manageable sizes. The smaller size makes the tools more compact and more of an extension of your hand providing much more control. It will also allow you to use the tool for longer with less fatigue.

The Bosch Blue12V Series is perfect for tradies who perform detailed work and need total control of their tool. It’s also great for those after a lightweight, small kit they can carry around from job to job for lighter duty tasks.

A Very Handy Planer Indeed

The Bosch Blue GHO Planer has a no-load speed of 14,500rpm, 0-2mm cutting depth and will provide 56mm maximum planing width. The smaller size is also smaller weight at only 1.5kg without a battery.

The compact and ergonomic tool has an optimised balance point for good control over the tool. The brushless motor and 12V system is compact with cordless freedom and delivers the best operability in every working position – great for planing doors, skirting boards or other trimmings.

There was plenty of power for day-to-day fit off requirements and the runtime was excellent. It’s also compatible with Bosch Blue Click & Clean dust extraction systems.

Comfort And Control

The Bosch Blue GKF 12V palm router is unique providing an ideal balance point and puts the centre of gravity over the router, which provides great ergonomics and control over the tool. The Brushless motor delivers a no-load speed of 13,000rpm and weighs only 1.1kg without battery – so light and compact! The GFK includes macro depth adjustment for easy setting of required depths and also fine adjustment dial. You can also screw the lock tight to ensure the depth doesn’t change.

The collet diameter is 6mm to 8mm and the tool is intended for edge routing in wood and plastic. The restart protection is also a great safety feature in the event of leaving the switch on while changing to a fresh battery. I found the Bosch Blue GKF Palm Router extremely comfortable to use and control. The speed of the router has been optimised for the motor size and although it’s not as powerful as your standard 240V router, the size, compactness, maneuverability and control greatly outweigh the need for that extra power. For edging and trimming this router has more than enough power and you’ll feel as though you could use it all day. The finger pads for your second hand on the back of the router were in a great position safely away from the blade, which provided added control over the tool.

The Bosch Blue 12V range is growing larger and stronger in the number of tools (not size of the tools!) and the release of these two powerhouses – the GHO 12V-20 Professional Cordless Planer and GKF 12V-8 Cordless Palm Router – is pretty exciting to see. Not only were these new tools powerful for their size but their compactness made them an absolute pleasure to use. Great control, great finishes and great productivity. More tools in one small toolbox = fewer trips to the ute/van!

There will be applications where the 18V versions may be needed, but for most day-to-day applications, the 12V will have you covered. These two new products from Bosch Blue are squarely aimed at trades that are looking for refined, detailed finishes and will be perfect for boat builders, cabinet makers, kitchen installers, window and door makers/installers and more.
